Blanco Cigar Co.’s collaboration with Bryan Glynn’s Cigar Obsession is getting another line, this time named after Glynn himself.
The BG Reserve is short for Bryan Glynn Reserve. It will be offered in four box-pressed vitolas, though one cigar is also a barberpole. Three of the sizes will use a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Indonesian Sumatran binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The BG Reserve Toro is a barberpole, meaning it has two wrappers that alternate down the side of the cigar. The other wrapper is a shade-grown Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Talanga, Honduras. It will be made at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.
- Cigar Obsession BG Reserve Short Lonsdale (5 1/2 x 46)
- Cigar Obsession BG Reserve Toro (6 x 52 Barber Pole)
- Cigar Obsession BG Reserve Robusto (5 x 52)
- Cigar Obsession BG Reserve Figurado (5 3/8 x 60 x 54)
While all four sizes will feature pigtail caps, only three of the four vitolas will have covered feet, with the exception being the Figurado.
Cigar Obsession is best-known for its YouTube channel, likely the largest and longest-running cigar-themed channel on YouTube. Bryan Glynn is the founder and reviewer. In 2015, Blanco released the first collaborative cigar, the Cigar Obsession 1st Third. In the two subsequent years, a second and third line—2nd Third and Final Third—were added.
David Blanco told halfwheel that the company has updated the packaging for the first three lines, which are now sold in a half dozen countries.
The BG Reserve will be shown off at next week’s 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show and begin shipping to stores on Aug. 7.
